Text on a photo is used for thumbnails, posters, social media posts, and covers, where the headline needs to be read at a glance. Adding text in a separate editor and then combining it with the photo is slow, and the text can end up in the wrong place. This tool puts the text directly on the photo, in a position you choose, so you can see the result before you download it.

Keep the headline short and place it where it does not cover the main subject or a face. A short headline in a large, clear font will read well even at thumbnail size, while a long sentence in a small font will be hard to read when the photo is shown small.

Frequently asked questions

How long should the headline on a photo be?

Keep it to a few words. A headline on a photo is meant to be read at a glance, especially at thumbnail size, so a short phrase works better than a full sentence.

Where should I put text on a photo?

Put it where it does not cover a face or the main subject, usually at the top or bottom, over a plainer area of the photo. Check the result at the size it will actually be shown, because text that looks fine large can be hard to read small.

Can I change the text after downloading?

No, not from the downloaded photo, because the text is part of that image. Keep the original photo, and write a new headline from it if you change your mind.

Is my photo uploaded when I add text to it?

No. The work happens in your browser only. The photo never leaves your device, and nothing is saved after you close the page.
