Strong passwords are long and unpredictable, which makes them hard to guess or to crack by trying combinations. Passwords people make up themselves tend to follow patterns — names, dates, and common words — which are much easier to guess. A generator avoids those patterns by choosing characters at random, and it can make a password far longer than most people would type by hand.
Use a different password for each important account, and store generated passwords in a password manager rather than writing them on paper or reusing them. A strong password that is reused everywhere is only as safe as the weakest site that holds it.
Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser — no upload, no signup, and your files never leave your device.
Create a strong random password — long, with capital letters, numbers and symbols mixed in. A password you make up yourself is always weak; this one is generated randomly by the computer.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a password be?
Longer is stronger, because each extra character multiplies the combinations an attacker must try. A password of at least 16 characters, chosen at random, is a good target for important accounts, and a password manager makes long passwords practical to use.
Should a password include symbols?
Symbols help, but length matters more. A long password made only of letters can be stronger than a short password with symbols, because length adds more combinations. Use symbols as well if the site allows them, but do not shorten the password to fit them in.
Is a generated password safe to use?
Yes, if you store it safely. The passwords are generated in your browser at random, not chosen from a list. The risk comes from reusing a password or writing it where others can see it, not from how it was generated.
Are my generated passwords uploaded or saved?
No. Generation happens in your browser only. Passwords are never sent to a server and are not stored by ToolNest, so copy the one you want before you close the page.
