Frequently asked questions
How is exact age calculated?
Exact age counts full years since the birth date, then full months since the last birthday, then the remaining days. Leap years are included, because the calculation works from actual calendar dates rather than assuming every year has 365 days.
Why does my age differ from simply subtracting the years?
Because subtracting years alone ignores whether your birthday has happened yet this year. If it has not, you are one year younger than the simple subtraction suggests, and this tool accounts for that.
Can I calculate age on a past or future date?
Yes. Enter a second date and the tool will work out the age on that date instead of today. That is useful for checking eligibility on a specific date, such as an admission or exam date.
Is my date of birth uploaded or saved?
