Units cause confusion because different countries and different fields use different systems. A recipe, a school problem, a product specification and a travel distance can all use different units for the same quantity. Converting by hand is error-prone, especially with temperature, where the conversion is not a simple multiplication. This tool handles the arithmetic, so you can focus on the value itself.

Check that you have chosen the right category before you convert. Length, weight and temperature use different units, and a value converted in the wrong category will look plausible but be wrong. For cooking and for school work, also check whether the answer needs rounding to a sensible number of decimal places.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Enter the Celsius value, choose Celsius as the starting unit and Fahrenheit as the target unit. Temperature conversion is not a simple multiplication, because the two scales start at different points, so using a converter avoids the most common mistake.

Why does my converted value have many decimal places?

Conversions between systems rarely come out exact, so the result can have several decimal places. For most everyday uses, rounding to two or three decimal places is sensible, and for cooking or travel, whole numbers are often enough.

Can I convert between metric and imperial units?

Yes. That is one of the main uses of this tool, for example metres to feet, kilograms to pounds, or litres to gallons. Choose the correct category first, then the two units.

Is anything I enter uploaded or saved?

No. Conversion happens in your browser only. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is saved after you close the page.
