Image Rotate & Flip

Image Rotate & Flip turns a photo or mirrors it, free and in your browser. You can rotate a photo that is sideways, or flip it horizontally or vertically, and download the corrected photo.

Photos often come out sideways because a phone was held in a different orientation, or a scanned image was placed the wrong way round. Flipping is useful for mirror effects, for correcting a photo that was taken in a mirror, or for matching the direction of a subject in a design. Both jobs are quick once the tool is open, and they do not change the content of the photo apart from its orientation.

Rotate first, then check the photo, because a photo can be both rotated and flipped and it is easy to lose track of which way is up. If you are flipping text in a photo, remember that flipping will also mirror the text, making it read backwards.

Frequently asked questions

How do I fix a sideways photo?

Open the photo in the tool and rotate it until it is the right way up, usually by 90 degrees. Check the result before downloading, because a photo can need more than one rotation if it started upside down.

What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

Rotating turns the photo, so up becomes sideways or down. Flipping mirrors it, so left and right swap, or top and bottom swap, while the photo stays upright. Use rotation for orientation and flipping for a mirror effect.

Will flipping a photo mirror any text in it?

Yes. Flipping mirrors everything in the photo, including text, so words will read backwards. If the photo contains important text, rotating is usually safer than flipping.

Is my photo uploaded when I rotate or flip it?

No. The work happens in your browser only. The photo never leaves your device, and nothing is saved after you close the page.
