PDF to Text pulls all the readable text out of a PDF into plain text you can copy, edit or download as a .txt file. It works on PDFs that were made from text — reports, ebooks, generated bills — and shows you the page and character counts it found.
Why did my PDF give no text?
It is almost certainly a scanned PDF — each page is a photograph of paper, and a photograph contains no text characters to extract. Such files need OCR (a different technology) to turn the picture of words into real text.
Does the layout survive?
Plain text keeps the words and their order, but not columns, tables or styling. Expect clean, readable text you may tidy up a little — not a perfect copy of the page design.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF to Text runs entirely in your browser — your file is processed on your own device and is never sent to ToolNest or anywhere else. Close the tab and everything is cleared.
